Microsoft will introduce artificial intelligence powered phishing detection to Microsoft Teams messages in early November 2026, BleepingComputer reported. The deployment will begin with a targeted release phase that is expected to finish by mid November 2026. BleepingComputer reported that the security capability is scheduled to reach general availability worldwide between early and mid December 2026. [1]
According to BleepingComputer, Microsoft first revealed the feature in a Microsoft 365 Roadmap entry. The system will evaluate conversation context to identify malicious and suspicious activity without retaining actual message content. BleepingComputer noted that the tool will focus on higher risk messaging scenarios, including first contact chats initiated by external users. [1]
Microsoft Teams is a business collaboration application within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem that includes chat, video calls, and application integrations. The software reached more than 320 million monthly active users by 2025. The platform has previously faced security concerns involving default external communication settings and phishing exploits. [2][4]
The update follows wider industry efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into threat defense systems. As FTMQ Security reported earlier, Google recently updated its Chrome browser to analyze suspicious websites and warn users about ClickFix social engineering attacks using server side artificial intelligence.
