Multinational food retailer Ahold Delhaize took systems offline on October 12, 2026, after detecting a cybersecurity incident within its network. Cybersecurity Dive and BleepingComputer both reported that the company disconnected portions of its infrastructure as a precautionary measure to protect its network systems. [1][3]
The incident caused outages across the company's regional e-commerce platforms. Cybersecurity Dive reported that websites for all five United States banners, Hannaford, Stop & Shop, Giant Food, Food Lion, and The Giant Company, were offline. Netherlands-based brands Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall were also impacted by the network disruptions. [1]
Ahold Delhaize stated to Grocery Dive that it did not have additional details beyond its initial announcement and provided no timeline for restoring affected systems. BleepingComputer reported that the retail giant operates more than 9,400 local stores across Europe, Indonesia, and the United States, serving approximately 60 million customers each week. [1][3]
Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize N.V. was established on July 23, 2016, following the merger of Dutch retailer Ahold and Belgian Delhaize Group. The company manages supermarkets, online grocery operations, pharmacies, and liquor stores across nine countries, generating two-thirds of its total revenue within the United States. [8][9]
