A suspected member of the ShinyHunters digital extortion group was detained in Jordan on September 29, 2026, and is cooperating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to reports from The Hacker News, BleepingComputer, and DataBreaches.net. The individual goes by the online alias Rey. [1][5][6]

The Hacker News reported that the suspect has been identified as Saif al-Din Khader. Citations from Reuters indicate that his cooperation with law enforcement and the FBI is intended to help authorities identify and locate other members of the hacking group. [1]

DataBreaches.net and thenationalnews.com reported that the ShinyHunters group had previously claimed to have stolen data belonging to every FBI employee. Jordanian authorities subsequently confirmed the arrest following those claims, according to thenationalnews.com. [5][8]
