InfoSecurity Magazine reported that Microsoft released its Digital Defense Report 2026, which warns that artificial intelligence has enabled attackers to compress parts of the cyber attack lifecycle from days to minutes. The report stated that hackers are gaining an advantage over defenders by using AI models to enhance the speed and scale of their intrusions. [1]

According to InfoSecurity Magazine, the report highlighted major changes in how attackers utilize AI, including agentic models, throughout the attack lifecycle over the past year. Hackers are using AI models during the initial access phase to discover vulnerabilities in source code, binaries, and AI serving systems. [1]

Microsoft is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Redmond, Washington, that develops software, cloud computing services, and artificial intelligence technologies. [3]

InfoSecurity Magazine noted that Microsoft stressed the pressure is now on defenders to adapt quickly and close the operational gap as attackers continue to adopt AI capabilities first. [1]
