Google released a Chrome update to patch 37 security vulnerabilities, including seven flaws rated as critical, according to Malwarebytes Labs, India News Network, Neowin, SQ Magazine, and BigGo Finance. Malwarebytes Labs reported that some of the security flaws could allow attackers to execute malicious code on a target device using a specially crafted webpage. [1][4][5][6][7]
Malwarebytes Labs reported that the update brings Chrome for Windows and Mac to versions 155.0.8059.79 or 155.0.8059.80, and version 155.0.8059.79 for Linux. On the same day, Google released version 155.0.8059.79 for Android devices, though it might not be immediately available to every user on Google Play. [1]
Google Chrome is a cross-platform web browser developed by Google that first launched in September 2008 for Microsoft Windows. It has since expanded to Linux, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android, becoming the default browser on Android devices. [8]
Malwarebytes Labs noted that the easiest way for users to stay protected is to allow Chrome to update automatically. However, users can fall behind on updates if they do not close their browser or if a browser extension prevents the software update process. [1]
