The Federal Bureau of Investigation has seized seven domains used by Chinese state-sponsored hackers known as Flax Typhoon, BleepingComputer reported. The domains were used to operate two hacking tools, MicroScan and FishHub, which compromised critical infrastructure and other organizations around the world. [1]
The Independent, Nextgov/FCW, and Fortune all reported that the agency seized tools and websites used by Chinese hackers for cyber operations. Fortune noted that the bureau described the activity as an indiscriminate and reckless cyber operation. [2][3][5]
The domain seizures targeted infrastructure supporting the two hacking platforms allegedly operated by China-based Integrity Technology Group, according to BleepingComputer. United States authorities state that the contractor operated the infrastructure behind the campaign. [1][3]
The National Security Agency joined the FBI and partner agencies to provide technical guidance to help organizations mitigate threats linked to Chinese government actors. [4]
